Understanding CFM Requirements

What is CFM?

CFM (Cubic Feet per Minute) measures the volume of air moved by your dust collection system.

Duct Sizing Impact

Duct diameter significantly affects CFM delivery:

  • 4" Duct: Good for 300-400 CFM
  • 5" Duct: Handles 400-600 CFM
  • 6" Duct: Best for 600-800 CFM
  • Maintain 3500-4000 FPM air velocity
  • Larger ducts reduce static pressure

Static Pressure

Resistance to airflow in your system:

System Design Tips
